For kids ages 10-12.
Drop off your kids for some hands-on learning and fun, then pick them up and enjoy tasting what they made. While we call this camp Baking Basics, the baked goods they’ll bring home are anything but basic. We know these valuable kitchen skills will come in handy for years to come and inspire a new generation of bakers.
Students will make a buttermilk cake from scratch, frost, and decorate it. They’ll make cookies, scones, flatbread, bread rolls, cinnamon rolls, banana bread, and mini fruit tarts. (Consider desserts taken care of this week!) We’ll also give them an introduction to bread baking, with a demonstration of freshly milling flour and a demo on a naturally leavened sourdough starter.
This is our current plan for the class and we will make every effort to provide the menu that is described but it is possible that a dish could change, please trust that we will make your child’s experience amazing! If you have dietary restrictions that this menu does not accommodate, we are sometimes able to leave ingredients out, but we are not able to make substitutions.
