The New Joy of Cooking with John Becker and Megan Scott

Many of us gained our footing in the kitchen with the help of a well-worn copy of Joy of Cooking. The book, originally published by Irma S. Rombauer in 1931, is an American classic, and one that has been foundational in American culinary culture for decades. Now, we’re celebrating its latest edition with a lesson straight from the source! We’re excited to welcome John Becker, Irma’s great-grandson, and Megan Scott, John’s wife, for a demo of some of their favorite recipes from the book.

We’ll watch them make olive oil flatbread crackers, spicy chickpea soup, frico eggs, and chocolate swirl halvah, and they’ll share helpful tips and musings on the book as he cooks. Don’t forget to come hungry—we’ll get to taste all of their creations, too!

The demonstration will be followed by a book sale and signing.

Our classes (except for family classes & kids camps) are for adults 17 & up.
