Watch Chef Ji Hye Kim cook up a full Korean barbeque in this online demonstration via Zoom. She’ll share her recipes and show you how to make two main dishes, Nubiani (Korean barbeque steak) and Dak Gooi (Korean Soy Chicken) and two delicious dipping sauces, Ssamjang (the traditional dipping sauce for Korean barbeque) and spicy mayo (the no-so traditional but tasty dipping sauce). Don’t forget about the sides! Chef Ji Hye Kim will also demonstrate Soy Butter Rice (rice dressed with soy sauce and Calder Dairy butter, Chef's childhood favorite!), Cucumber Salad Banchan (this wonderful little side can really round out your meal by adding a touch of spice and acidity), and Lettuce Ssam with vegetables (to be enjoyed with those dipping sauces!).
Ji Kye Kim is the James Beard Award-semifinalist, chef-owner of Miss Kim, a Korean restaurant that’s a proud part of the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses. Chef Ji Hye Kim grew up in Seoul, South Korea, and is obsessed with ancient Korean culinary texts and the finer points of fermentation. Miss Kim’s food is rooted in Korean tradition and adapted to showcase Michigan’s bountiful produce, by working with local farmers to build a menu that shines seasonally.
Two days before the class, you will receive the Zoom invite to your email account as well as the recipes that Ji Hye will be making.
