BAKE!-cation® Weekend: Pie 2.0

Our weekend BAKE!-cations® are the ultimate experience for the home baker! We guide you through a comprehensive education in baking techniques in a fun, exciting, relaxed, and always hands-on classroom full of good humor and expert instruction. You'll need an empty suitcase to bring home all the great food you've made!

Join us for a weekend of pie baking of all sorts! We'll teach you to make by hand sweet and savory pies featuring hot water pie crusts and all-butter pie crusts made with flavorful, stone-ground, high extraction, Frederick soft white wheat flour. We’ll also make a few items in the pie family that are not traditionally thought of as “pie.” You’ll learn the secrets to making pie dough, tender flaky pie crusts and when and why we blind-bake them, cooking a custard filling, preparing veggies for savory fillings, and more! 

What we'll make: Savory Galettes, Chocolate Cream Pie, Bakehouse Cheery Cherry Pie, Zingerman's Deli Chicken Pot Pies, Bakehouse Cheese and Caramelized Onion Cornish Pasties, Meatball Pie, and Bakehouse Mississippi Mud Pie.

Each day, before rolling up our sleeves, we'll provide an assortment of breakfast pastries, coffee, and tea; and for lunch, we'll enjoy some of the savory items we'll make in class.

You'll leave the Pie BAKE!-cation with our recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, all the sweet and savory pies you made, as well as some great coupons.

Our classes (except for family classes & kids camps) are for adults 17 & up.
