Do you love custards and puddings? Love buttery pie crusts? Eat whipped cream by the spoonful? If your answers are Yes! Yes! and Yes!, then this hands-on class is for you!
Join us to make two of our Bakehouse's best: Coconut Cream Pie and Chocolate Cream Pie. We'll also demonstrate our sweet and tangy Key Lime Pie. Yes, the latter one is baked, so it's not really a “cream” pie, but it’s definitely creamy and delicious. (Please see below for in-person versus virtual class content.)
We'll teach you how to make from scratch a buttery and flaky pie crust (no shortening allowed!), how to roll and blind bake the crust, and make the coconut filling and chocolate filling. For the key lime pie, we'll show you how to make a buttery graham cracker crust, and the rich, tart filling from scratch. We'll end with a demonstration on making fresh whipped cream to top the pies.
You'll leave the BAKE! class with our recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, and the 2 pies you made in class.
In-person: We'll end class with a pie tasting and you'll go home with some great coupons. We will make the Coconut Cream Pie and Chocolate Cream pie, and demonstrate the Key Lime Pie in the in-person session.
Virtual: It will be helpful to have on hand a stand mixer with a whisk attachment or a hand-held mixer to make the whipped cream for the two pies. We will make the Coconut Cream Pie and Chocolate Cream in the virtual session.
Basic Pastry Baking Kit
Our Basic Pastry Kit is ideal for newer pastry bakers, and includes tools we typically use for baked goods like scones, cookies, and brownies.
