Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookie Class for 2023 with brightly colored cookies to celebrate the season

Our most popular class of the year! 

Get ready to get into the holiday spirit! Join us to make four festive, fancy cookies to share with family, friends, and coworkers.

The 2023 lineup has a cookie for everybody. This year we're making a colorful selection of cookies featuring citrus, chocolate, almond, candied fruit, and coconut! As always, we'll try to sneak some baking lessons into the mix. We know this class is fun but we want to fulfill our teaching duties too. You'll leave class with festive tasty treats and the knowledge to make rough puff pastry, a checkerboard cookie, and a classic biscotti! And now the cookies:

Coconut Twigs
Featuring rough puff pastry (a quick version of classic puff pastry), this cookie features layers upon layers of flaky dough with coconut extract and sweetened flake coconut before being twisted and then baked until the coconut is toasted and fragrant. The fun shape is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Lime Cornmeal Checkerboard Cookies
This twist on the classic checkerboard cookie features organic stoneground cornmeal and punchy lime oil. These fun cookies are citrusy and buttery and the cornmeal gives them a delightfully unexpected flavor.

Triple Chocolate Mint Biscotti
Butter and peppermint extract combine with chocolate in three different forms to create a rich dough that is then twice baked, producing a crispy, yet tender cookie. We'll decorate the biscotti with a drizzle of melted white chocolate and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candies.

Mazurka
A tender Polish bar cookie made with almond meal, then covered with a thin layer of almond paste and decorated with an assortment of dried fruits and nuts, finished with a sweet and shiny apricot glaze. Resembling a stained glass window, this bar cookie is almost too pretty to eat! 

While we can sometimes leave out ingredients, provide substitutions, or allow students to bring their own gluten free flour, several of these cookies cannot be altered and still achieve success. If you have any questions regarding the need to make substitutions, please contact us so we can discuss what will be possible.

Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookie Ingredient Kit 2026 for Pick Up

Get (almost!) everything you need for this year's Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookie lineup. Ingredients will come already scaled for your baking pleasure.  

The 2026 cookie lineup has something for everybody:

Basler Leckerli—a traditional Swiss cookie with almonds and candied fruit; chewy and a little nutty. It tastes like the winter holidays.

Hong Kong Snowballs—a riff on a coconut-stuffed Hong Kong cocktail bun. Think shredded coconut filling in a vanilla-scented short dough. It's gently flavored and not too sweet!

Chocolate Mint Cheers—tender chocolate icebox cookies cut into squares, dipped in dark chocolate mint ganache, and decorated with nonpareils and crushed candy cane. These sing the holidays. 

Regent Tartlette—a two-bite version of the Swedish Princess Cake! This is the showstopper of the class—super pretty, very tasty, and a little challenging to make. 

Besides most of the ingredients, the kit will also include: sheets of parchment paper, an 8x8 disposable pan, a cookie scoop, copies of the recipes, a packing slip with a guide to the stickers on each ingredient, and a shopping list of the ingredients you will need to get. Please note that items in the kits cannot be swapped out or exchanged. (If you have a duplicate, share with a friend or invite a buddy to bake with you!) 

You will need a mini muffin pan to make one of the cookies. It is not included in the kit.

Kits can be picked up in our Bakeshop, located at 3711 Plaza Drive starting on Monday, November 30th. Quantities are limited!

Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookies, our third in a new series of cookbooklets we're developing here at the Bakehouse, features a collection of favorite holiday cookie recipes from our most popular BAKE! class ever! An annual tradition since 2009, the Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookies class attracts hundreds of folks, each year, to bake cookies with us. The cookbooklet includes make-at-home recipes for 14 of our most beloved Fancy Schmancy Holiday cookies. (And of course, there’s no need to limit these cookies to the holidays—they’re just as sweet and delicious any time of year!) Shipping is included in the price of the cookbooklet.
