Business leader and writer Jim Rohn says, “Your personal philosophy is your greatest determining factor in how your life works out." Join us for an evening of insightful and insight-filled conversation between Zingerman's Co-Founding Partner, Ari Weinzweig, and Bakehouse Managing Partner, Amy Emberling, as they take a deep dive into how Zingerman's Food Philosophy has shaped what Zingerman’s makes, sells, and serves for the past 41 years! Please note this is not a hands-on class but a talk - so sit back, relax, enjoy, and partake in the conversation and nosh on some tasty Zingerman's food.
Although few people can elucidate their philosophy clearly, having one—and being able to explain it—can be hugely helpful in all walks of life. In his newly-released pamphlet, "A Taste of Zingerman's Food Philosophy" (Zingerman's Press, 2023), Ari details a belief that a philosophy is a coming together of Mission, Guiding Principles (a.k.a., Values), and Beliefs. When all three are well thought out and commonly shared, they can help an organization and/or an individual live a more purposeful and values-aligned life. A clear philosophy—whether it’s about food, leadership, life, or anything else—helps each of us to stay focused and makes it much easier to make difficult decisions even during hard times.
This evening's conversation between Ari and Amy—about food, cooking, baking, business, and life—is sure to be fast paced, thought provoking, funny, and for some of you attending, likely life-changing. While learning is for life, seats are limited—sign up soon!
You’ll leave the conversation enlightened with much philosophical food for thought. Ari will also be on hand to sign copies of his pamphlet, which will be available for purchase.
Meet the Instructors
Amy Emberling is the co-author of the award-winning Zingerman's Bakehouse (2017) as well as the soon-to-be-released Zingerman’s Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day (2023). Amy is the driving force behind the baking and cooking we do at the Bakehouse, and, for the last three years, has also served as one of the members of Zingerman's Stewardship Council, the five-member group that helps to lead and guide the Zingerman's' Community.
Ari Weinzweig, along with Paul Saginaw, opened the doors of Zingerman's Delicatessen in March of 1982. He continues to be active in helping to lead the Zingerman's Community and is the author of a dozen books and pamphlets, of which "A Taste of Zingerman's Food Philosophy" is the most recent. Of the new release, Danny Meyer, founder, and Chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group says, “I’ve read and had a most satisfying taste of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy, which makes such a compelling case for the power and pleasure of making purposeful choices for how we eat. Or you can just enjoy eating at any of the Zingerman’s businesses and learn from the pros.”

"Ari's contributions to the American Food & Beverage community are invaluable,

his convictions! It gives hope! I ALWAYS take something away from Ari's writing
and am grateful for how generous he has been in sharing."
