Fantasy Camp for Home Bakers

Parents drop off the kids for some hands-on learning & fun, then pick them up and enjoy tasting what they made. We know these valuable kitchen skills will come in handy for years to come and inspire a new generation of bakers.

You’ll leave BAKE! With our recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, all the food you made in class and great coupons.

Kids Camp - Advanced Baking

For kids ages 12-14.

Drop off your kids for some hands-on learning and fun, then pick them up and enjoy tasting what they made. This camp is designed for kids who have already taken our Baking Basics Camp or are more experienced in the kitchen (and fall within the appropriate age range).

Students will get a bread-ucation as they bake focaccia, bagels, our classic Jewish Rye bread, and a Challah braid. We’ll also be demonstrating freshly milling flour for the rye sour, a starter used for our Jewish Rye. They’ll make pastries, too: a Boston Cream Pie, a chocolate cream pie with a homemade crust, and pâte à choux for eclairs or Paris Brest.

This is our current plan for the class and we will make every effort to provide the menu that is described but it is possible that a dish could change, please trust that we will make your child’s experience amazing! If you have dietary restrictions that this menu does not accommodate, we are sometimes able to leave ingredients out, but we are not able to make substitutions. Kids Camp - Baking Basics

For kids ages 10-12.

Drop off your kids for some hands-on learning and fun, then pick them up and enjoy tasting what they made. While we call this camp Baking Basics, the baked goods they’ll bring home are anything but basic. We know these valuable kitchen skills will come in handy for years to come and inspire a new generation of bakers.

Students will make a buttermilk cake from scratch, frost, and decorate it. They’ll make cookies, scones, flatbread, bread rolls, cinnamon rolls, banana bread, and mini fruit tarts. (Consider desserts taken care of this week!) We’ll also give them an introduction to bread baking, with a demonstration of freshly milling flour and a demo on a naturally leavened sourdough starter.

Kids Camp - Teen Cake Decorating

For kids age 14-17.

Calling all teens who want to learn the ins and outs of decorating cakes for any occasion! Decorating might be the most fun part of cake making and it’s your chance to really put your personal touch on your dessert. Learn the basics (and beyond!) in this 2-day, 4-hour-long class.

Your teen will learn how to make our delectable buttermilk cake, a chiffon cake, and a light and airy Swiss vanilla buttercream. They’ll get practice splitting, filling, crumb coating, and icing cakes. We'll spend time practicing with different piping tips to make shells, rosettes, vines, leaves, and letters on a cake. 

We’ll also take your teen through the steps of making fondant that actually tastes good. That’s right, fresh handmade fondant from scratch! We'll demonstrate the basic techniques for coloring, shaping, and cutting out fondant. Then they'll split, fill, cover, and decorate their own cake to take home. 

Your teen will return home with two 6-inch, 2-layer cakes that will be almost too pretty to eat (but only almost).
